What Occasioned This Moniker?
Never really gave it a thought as to how people came to designate the 1st of April of each year as April Fool.
Of course, I do not want to google it. I want it from one of you guys on WordPress because it would sound much better, much more relatable getting it from WordPress peers than something plucked from Google.
I am, salivatingly; waiting, guys.
Thank You. Keep Reading.

I don’t actually have any idea! I would love to know myself… But I of course will not Google it either. Awaiting another WordPress user’s enlightening reply…

Lol.
Exactly, that is one of the reasons we have platforms like this to share ideas from the angle of ‘each one, teach one’.
I will keep waiting.

I think there was a problem with the calendar dates. With the introduction of the new roman calendar or something. In north India, this is the time of harvest… So it’s technically the new year for a lot of communities. So the Roman calender must have created some confusion around this date. But I guess the fact that you can break rules and touch base with the child in you by playing pranks on others is a great way to lighten up one’s life. This human tendency to play, could be something that every person regardless of ethnicity connects with and hence celebrates!

Your assumption appears correct. We tend to take life too seriously sometimes and as you said we, at time; need to make light of daily life in order maintain our sanity. And, this took on some sort of universal appeal.
Thank you for this contribution, Nicky.
